Bought this product less than 3 years ago and the magnetic strip is already starting to wear due to poor design. The inside water line is dripping. None of this is covered under warranty. Paying $1700 for a fridge and things start going wrong in less than 3 years says something. Never will I buy a kitchenaid product. They do not back their own product.
I called customer service and said we can have someone come out but it may or may not be covered

3 service calls and it still buzzes loudly

In June 2014 I spent $8,000 on a whole set of new KitchenAid appliances, including this refrigerator. In November 2016 it started to buzz loudly. A technician came and leveled it. But that really did not solve the problem and it got a lot worse in February 2017. The technician took the unit apart, and found that the compressor coil is pressing up against the bottom of the freezer. He took some bit of rubber out of his toolkit and crammed it in that space. That solved the problem - but only temporarily. The buzzing started again and I am again calling for service. I bought an extended warranty that goes through 2018, so these service calls are free. But what happens when that runs out? Do I need to pay hundreds of dollars a year to resolve what seems clear to me is a design flaw?

Nice looking, too little room

This fridge looks great and will be for a small family. Because it is counter depth it is quite shallow and will not hold pans or containers that will fit in traditional units. It does look nice and keep things cold, but the shallowness of the refrigerator and the freezer offset it for us. We have also had trouble with the ice dispenser Shen filling cups. It has a tendency to continue dispensing ice after you release the lever and ice falls on the floor. We ALWAYS have a wet and messy floor from that. The ice maker is also very small and never provides enough for the family when we are all together. And to mke it worse, the freezer is not large enough to store the ice bag from the store. It's also much louder than our previous unit and the door control notifications are not user friendly. It's difficult to learn how to acknowledge the alerts and turn them off when dealt with. Our replace filter light was on for days after we replace the filter before we could figure it out.

Fridge ice maker doesn't work and water leaks and freezes on freezer floor then melts an ruined my wood floor,on 2nd microwave, my oven smoked the cord behind it could have burnt my new house down. Not happy at all.

This is a bad fridge, design and all. The ice maker holds enough ice for about 2 drinks and then you must wait for more to make. The lunch meat drawer is the entire width of the frig so both doors must be wide ope to use and therefore when one door closed it snapped the lid off. The frig is now leaking from the ice maker. DO NOT BUY. Also, the ice comes out badly so we gave up using the ice dispenser. With the ice maker placed in refrigerator section it really doesn't leave a lot of space for food.

Purchased one for each house. The ice machine in the door works well except the ice does not stop quickly when the lever is released. One has to get used to the delay.

Pro: It has all you need for a fridge Con: The freezer started to leak after 3 years. The phone line of their customer service will drop call and they will have to transfer you to another line, and then you have to explain the whole thing all over again. This could happen more then one time, which is very annoying.

We have had this refrigerator for 4 years it is so noisy you can't hear yourself think. The ice maker only lasted two years, the drain tube was blocked with ice, leaked water on our hardwood floors and ruined them. The technician that came out, said that this was a problem with this model and we had to pay $150.00 to have the drain tube replaced. We are never buying any Kitchenaid appliances or Whirlpool because they are both the same company.

Great small fridge

We like this fridge. We recently downsized to a smaller kitchen, and it has fit in well. The only thing we miss is having crushed ice. Would rather have this option than "dispense water," although this is nice to have, too. We had a little bit of trouble with ice clumping and not dispensing in the first week or two, but this has resolved. We are happy with this fridge for our needs at this time.

very disappointed in this refrigerator/freezer

I bought this refrigerator a little over 1 year ago as I have other Kitchen Aid appliances and the developer/builder in my new home suggested it. I am very disappointed in the freezer as the freezer door on the right side is warped so that the freezer door does not completely seal (you can see this side is not as tight as the other side). Frost forms on the bottom of the freezer and then drips on my hardwood floor. I am 1 adult in the house, no children and am very careful. This warped door and seal issue is apparently common as the service person knew of it. I bought an extended warranty plan and have been told the extended warranty does not cover the seal or a warped door as it is a manufacture defect. PLEASE HELP!!

Have had nothing but problems with this refigerator. Does not maintain temperature. The freezer coil ices up and clogs the defrost drain which causes the unit not to work. Door seals went bad within a year. Controller replaced and still doesn't maintain temperature. Kitchenaid does not stand behind their product and warranty is worthless.

I love how spacious this refrigerator is! It's very quiet as well. I had to remove one of the shelves to fit taller bottles. But even without that shelf there is plenty of shelf space in the fridge part. I wish the stainless steel was fingerprint proof. Overall, I am very pleased with this appliance.

I can't really say if I would or would not recommend this yet because I need to call customer service. I love the fridge and all it's features but the freezer gets ice build up right inside the drawer on the rubber trim and I'm not sure where it is coming from. If customer service can tell me how to fix the ice build up I would definitely recommend.

We did some research and purchased this model 3 years ago. It has served its purpose, but here are my complaints about it: -The handy dandy door alarm will beep if the doors are left open for more than 30-45 seconds (?). That's great unless you're cleaning the thing out, rearranging, or loading it up. You're forced to stop, push in all the drawers, close the doors to reset the timer, then you can proceed. You have to repeat this process every 30-45 seconds until you're done. Annoying. -The icemaker is tiny. I have a family of four. We can't all have ice at the same time. Seriously. You can forget it if we have friends or family over. I have to start pre-planning a few days in advance by harvesting ice and storing in the freezer or just by buying a bag. -The icemaker is also finicky. You either wait forever for ice to fall, or you're bombarded with a whole bucket of ice falling through the chute and ultimately on the floor. -The size of this fridge is pretty small compared to others on the market. I am constantly reorganizing or moving things to my outside fridge. -Anything placed on the top shelf (next to the icemaker) WILL FREEZE. I learned my lesson. While putting water bottles in that area is great, a carton of eggs is not. -The freezer is small. Again, we utilize an outside fridge/freezer because this unit is so small. -Within the last month, we noticed water on the floor in front of the fridge. I assumed maybe it was a drip pan in need of emptying? We found out last night that it has something to do with the freezer. The gasket is not sealing properly even though I've cleared all possible obstructions. Our food has partially thawed and now we're left with the chore of emptying out the entire freezer because it's now unsafe. We are putting a service call in after only 3 years of use. We're pretty much fed up with the size of it that we're going to replace it all together. If you have a family of four or more, don't get this model.

Overall OK. Keeps the food cold (of course) so I guess it does the job. The shelves are not especially sturdy and have sharp plastic on the leading edges. The door bins are on the smaller side and are not very versatile based on where they can be placed. The ice maker works very well, but the freezer is on the smaller side. The inside cold water spout is convenient. I do like to oversized deli bin.

Love the dual-open doors and lower freezer drawer. The drawers and cubbies on the interior are useful too, and flexible should your needs change. The exterior is good looking and suitable for any kitchen or cabinet style. The water dispenser I'd located inside the left door, leaving the front with nice clean lines. And it's made in America!

This refrigerator look good but rigt from the start we had problems! Fist the handle on the freezer door started chipping, like a bad powder coat job. We noticed everything on the top shelf was freezing and we just kept turning the fridge compartment up to over 45 degrees to keep things from freezing. Nonetheless we still experienced freezing issues. Then my fiance dropped a plastic bottle of ketchup on the crisper drawer and the clear part cracked about 6" long. We hadn't had it for a week at that point. My fiance had contacted our distributor and asked them to fix the problem, but call backs were far and few between. Finally after having it for close to 9 months they came out to repair the unit. They told us the drawer crack and handle chipping would have been covered had we contacted them in the first month. We did! They didn't call back or do anything about the issue. Now after they have come out and replaced the control board and thermal sensor and we have warm food and the display shows 8 degrees for the fridge compartment. Now I may have to throw out the food that is spoiling in my fridge! At least with frozen food we could still use the fridge most of the way! I am now ready to push this thing off of a cliff!

We selected this product for 2015 Winnebago Destination 5th wheel. It fits great and works just fine. We do have a issue with the double doors closing properly in the center and get a moisture buildup at that point. Believe doors need adjusting. Other than that we enjoy the product.

The door of the freezer was bent and can not close correctly which results in complete frost of the freezer, total overtaxing of the compressors. It will take 8 weeks for a replacement door to come and be changed. This is about the worst customer service I have experienced ever.

Bought in June 2012. Immediately needed to be serviced b/c freezer gasket was not installed correctly. No big deal. Right? Ahh... a sign of things to come. 9/2015: Stopped cooling completely. 2 weeks later a visit is made, a part is ordered and a part is installed by Kitchenaid service provider. 2 weeks without a fridge. 1/24: Stops cooling again. More assessment visits, more ordering of parts, more install... and after 7 visits from the service provider over the last 3 weeks time (replaced parts and it did cool for a day prior to leaking all the cooland out again, etc.) it is finally deemed "unrepairable" by Kitchenaid. You think? (3 weeks now + 2 weeks a few months ago without a fridge) So what happens next? Service provider now needs to submit a report. That will be reviewed by Kitchenaid (most likely take a few days) and then it goes to "Claims" where it will then be reviewed again prior to letting me know next steps. So I'm again looking at at least a week without a fridge while the red tape gets sorted out. Tip for Kitchenaid: Your extended service practice is A JOKE. If your customers don't work out of their home they may as well just trash your fridge b/c who is home the half dozen times that it takes to finally come to the conclusion this fridge was a lemon from the factory?
