Leaking Water Ruined My Wood Floor

I have had this refrigerator for 3 years and it leaks water out of the freezer. Had the issue fixed when under warranty the first year but then it happened again a year later. Paid to have it fixed and then it happened again. Now my wood floor is all discolored where it leaked. I have also seen other reviews about this issue and am very disappointed that free repair/replacement was not offered.

Design drawback for the freezing cap

I bought this refrigerator 3 years ago and recently it got problem - always dripping water from freezing cap and has accumulated very thick ice. Water even leaks out of the freezing cabinet and made damage to the surrounding furniture. I did some investigation and found a lot of people complaining this refrigerator for similar issue.

EXPENSIVE REPAIR WAS NEEDED AT 2 1/2 YEARS OLD!

I had a very expensive repair to this refrigerator at only 2 1/2 years old ($415.00). The part was called the controller. The refrigerator made a very loud noise like a fan that was blocked from turning. This is unacceptable! I will not buy a Whrillpool/Kitchen Aid product again...

I bought my new Frigidaire refrigerator just over a month ago after researching many brands and models. The Frigidaire's sleek styling and trim lines have been a winner for my kitchen. There is a tremendous amount of available storage with the frudge. The only thing kerping this rating from give stars is the limited options for moving shelving to better accommodate taller items.

POOR DESIGN RE DRAINAGE AUTO DEFROST

The drain hose and receptor are poorly designed causing freeze-ups and bottom portion of freezer resulting in overflow of water onto the floor each time the auto defrost goes on. There should have been a recall on this defect. There is a fix-it kit which must be purchased which seems to solve the problem, at least for now.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

I purchased the above stated refrigerator in July and at first was very happy with it until 4 days later when the refrigerator part of it quit working. I called Kitchen-aid and was on hold for over an hour and never got to talk to anyone. I then called Whirlpool and the same thing. I was on hold for forever and never got to talk to anyone. I tried scheduling a service call on line and put in zip codes within a 50 mile radius and no service agents were listed. I finally did the live chat on line and they gave me a number of an agency to call for service. They came and checked the refrigerator out and had to order a part. It has been a week now and the part won't be in for another week. So now I've been without a refrigerator going on three weeks and the refrigerator is BRAND NEW. I am VERY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED. I always thought that Kitchen-aid was top of the line brand. After this experience I will NEVER own another Kitchen-aid appliance again.

Love our new Refrigerator & More gorgeous than picture show

Family Loves our new KitchenAid refrigerator! So spacious. The produce & deli drawers go back so deep, yet everything is very accessible. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because we haven't been able to get the filtered water dispenser to work yet. We are sure it's something simple because we know the water line is working since the ice-maker works fine. Plus my son got water from it once. Think we just need to take the time when heads are clear and meticulously follow the video instructions I found on line. If it works I will be happy to upgrade to 5 stars. Even though I think/hope the filtered water dispenser issue is an easy fix, it should not have required so many tries and so much effort from people who have owned and operated a refrigerator filtered water dispenser before for years with absolutely no difficulties.

Very Disappointed!!!

Periodic Leak from Freezer Compartment

Full of poor design issues

We purchased this a year ago, when our old fridge died suddenly. It looks pretty & hold lots of food, but there are MANY little issues that are frustrating. I'd NEVER have bought this model if I'd have known all these issues. We erroneously trusted the Kitchenaid brand. *Left door won't shut all the way on it's own. It always catches & you have to push it closed the rest of the way. *Inside water button ergonomically designed wrong, button is above spigot so you have to use 2 hands to fill container, at a sideways awkward angle. *Right crisper drawer won't open unless BOTH front doors are open. *Filter mechanism is bulky & blocks part of the interior. *Shiny front surface shows EVERY fingerprint/smudge. Side panels have a pattern on them that disguises much better. *It's VERY noisy, lots of humming/buzzing/whirring/gurgling noises. Not "loud" volume wise, but makes all kinds of sounds, where we rarely heard our old model. Seriously wish we'd have picked something else.

Nice Design But Some Issues

Have had this refrigerator for almost a year. We are very happy with the space layout - many options for storage and excellent access. Issues - Each ice cube it makes produces a loud clunk. - Ice is in the back of the freezer, so must pull the drawer out all the way to get a few cubes. - You can barely hear the warning sound if door is ajar. - There is a very low level high pitch sound all the time. - The freezer drawer is hard to pull out and push in when full (which it always is). - Filtered ice water spout is inside on our model and pours very slowly. You must leave the door open the whole time you are filling a glass. So, we never use it.

I have easily adapted to my new fridge. Having the refrigerator portion at hip and above level is so convenient.  I was looking for a bottom freezer and was concerned about the capacity. The only french door fridge that fit in my opening

Sometimes the doors don't close all of the way. Other french door refrigerators have an annoying beeping sound to let you know. This one doesn't, so you need to pay attention when you close the doors. I buy a lot of fresh produce and it doesn't all fit in the bins. If it isn't in the bins it will freeze and become damaged. That might be a function of accidentally leaving the door ajar overnight too. It was the best priced of the French Door products which was also a plus.

We bought this fridge as a replacement for our previous model, which blew a compressor after ten years. Not bad in today's world I suppose! It is virtually identical to the previous model. Would have liked to see a an upgrade on the deli drawer as its design is unchanged from previous. We had trouble with pieces breaking when the drawer top "opened" and had hoped they would change that design. Having said that, if we're careful not to overfill the drawer it's fine. We went back to this fridge because it's the best value out there for the dollar and we love the interior layout. Sliding shelves are really helpful as well.

Could the filter apparatus be removed to allow for more storage as we have a reverse osmosis system and do not use the filter option? Regarding the refrigerator, we have not had any problems since the original one was replaced due to the doors not being level. However, our range must have the cleaning element replaced as the service person has just checked it as it was not cleaning the oven at all.

Perfect fit

We bought this a year ago for our new home. It fits perfectly. We have not had any issues with it. Love the freezer on the bottom and lot of room in the refrigerator itself. Ice maker is great...always lots of ice.

No big issues - lots of storage

We bought this for our new home about 10 months ago. Food stays fresh in it much better than our old fridge and there is tons of room inside. Our only complaint would be that it is quite loud.

there is not enough space to put thing in the shelves on the door of the fridge. The space in the freezing compartment is not enough. I had not seen this item in the store or I would have bought another model of kitchen aid. also the door does not close very tight. alarm for the door when left open is not loud at all and can be hardly heard. other than that it is great unit

I am very happy with the French door feature. I love the freezer on the bottom. It holds lots as it has 2 tiers. The water dispenser inside the fridge is the best. I always felt the one on the outside took up too much space for the times it is used.

Rust

Rust has been appearing on the freezer door since we got the frig three months ago. A service person checked it out and ordered another door which will take a whopping 3-4 months to arrive.

Love the look of the fridge. It has the same internal design of a lot of fridges, but it seems like these newer designs just don't fit the same amount of stuff as my old one. Otherwise I love all the compartments and the water inside

Ice Maker stopped working

I love my refrigerator but after 18 months of having it had to replace my ice maker. That cost me $120 because it was six months out of warranty. An expensive appliance like this should not have issues after just 18 months.

Bought this fridge Oct., 2014 when the circuit board in our fridge died. We decided to seek a design other than our long history with side-by sides and one without an ice dispenser through the door. My wife's preference was a bottom freezer, for she is a short person. A Kitchenmaid product was recommended by the fridge repairman. My wife found the 25 Cu. Ft. standard-depth French Door fridge, which we quickly agreed well served our needs as empty nesters. The wide, adjustable shelves, deep, adjustable door trays and the three pull drawers including one full width and large freezer drawer make for a well designed fridge with which we are most satisfied. .
