My side by side frig was a lemon from the get go! I don't know why I waited so long to replace it! Love all the features in this refrigerator, inside water dispenser, room for long trays or casseroles, organized freezer section, finish and sleekness of the front exterior. Quiet too! So happy w this purchase!

This counter depth refrigerator is modern and stylish on the outside and also has a roomy and well designed interior. Open both doors and everything is visible and within reach. Plenty of room to store large items when entertaining, etc. Freezer is a bit small for larger items; ice maker works fabulously.

Similar to other reviews we constantly have water pooled in front of our refrigerator and there always seems to be a build up of ice on the bottom of the freezer. We are very disappointed with the constant troubles with this fridge.

Major component failure in the first month

This was delivered less than 30 days ago and I already have a catastrophic Compressor Failure and possible need for a new evaporator. Both the fridge and freezer are now 72 degrees warm. From the time of the initial call, it took 48 hours for a service tech to arrive and tell us the bad news plus inform us that parts will take another 5 days as Kitchen Aid will not FedEx a compressor overnight. For the first 3 weeks, it was great, but the reliability is sketchy. This is our 2nd major Kitchen Aid purchase in 2 years and we have not been completely thrilled with our double ovens, but went with the refrigerator due to counter depth and to keep uniformity of the stainless finish. I have more faith in the appliance dealer doing the right thing for us than Kitchen Aid.

I have only had this a week but am very happy with my choice. It is very quiet. The compartments and pull outs are sturdy and things are kept at optimum temp. I like the streamlined appearance and ice in the freezer is a lot less messy than dealing with door ice providers. It has a well-lit interior and plenty of shelf space. Actually a counter depth eliminates those dishes of food getting lost in the rear of the frig--love itf!!!

Seems I am not the only one with the problem of the leaky refrigerator. Renovated my kitchen in 2012 and bought 5 kitchen aid appliances. I regret this immensely. Had to replace a rack in the dishwasher, my microwave oven light is out and the clock is blinking and does not keep track of time anymore, there is not a good quality fan in the oven and the cooktop does not impress me. These are not even three years old.

Only had it a month or so but so far it is working well. Went from French door design with freezer on one side and fridge on the other to this French door model with freezer on the bottom. The only inconvenience (minor) is having to open both doors to get to the slide our drawer. Really like the warning bell that alerts you when the left side door is not latched properly (which I have done on more than one occasion :( )

Really like the style of this frig. It holds a lot more than my old side by side. Love the freezer on the bottom, seems easier to keep organized. Really like that the water is inside the frig, so no water dripping down the front!

We bought the counter depth Kitchenaid KFC522EVMS4 in 2012. Two weeks ago water started leaking out of the bottom, in front of the freezer door. We have cleared our the ice as the previous reviewer suggested, and cleaned out dust, etc. behind. We're really worried now reading all of these issues. Is 2012 a bad model year? We are big Kitchenaid users....stove, dishwasher, microwave, wall oven, even blender! Until now we were pleased with this fridge.

The appealing qualities of the refrigerator are that its temperature control is accurate, it is very quiet, has a good ice maker and filtered cold water, and despite being cabinet depth has adequate space. The left-hand door is a little clumsy to use, due to the flap-out edge seal (which, no doubt, helps to provide good sealing when the door is closed). If you bump the seal when the door is open, it can get flipped to its closed position, and then you can't close the door (until you push the flap back to its normal position). The freezer's compartments don't seem to be adjustable, so freezing very large items might be inconvenient. And the inner crisper drawers aren't lined up well with the doors, so to open the right-hand crisper fully, you have to open both fridge doors. But these are minor complaints, and easy to get used to.

I bought this 3 years ago and was very pleased until a month ago. We noticed water leaking from the bottom. I cleaned it out and found a huge sheet of ice built up on the bottom of the freezer -much like sueskitchen and gertiesmiv. I painstakingly removed the ice but soon after another sheet of ice built up again, and water continues to leak from the bottom as a result. Very disappointing.

I had an OLD GE and never had a problem. We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago - I liked the features and arrangements for this fridge but am very disappointed with the poor design of the freezer. A thick sheet of ice keeps building up in the bottom recess in the floor of the freezer compartment. The first time it happened - the fridge was only a year old! We had water all over our new wood floor and realized it was coming from the fridge. We had it "repaired". Now a little over a year has passed and we have the issue again! I now check daily for the build up. I didn't think it would need manual defrosting.

We have been very pleased with our new refrigerator. The cabinet depth fit perfectly into our new kitchen and yet provides more than adequate room for all the things we need to put into it. We like the freezer on the bottom for being able to get to items and also the room that it has in it. We have never had a refrigerator with an ice maker and water but this one has both features and we are very pleased with them. We especially like the fact that they are not on the outside because we have small grandkids and if they were on the outside they would probably have ice and water all over the place.

We absolutely love this refrigerator. Love that it's counterdepth, that you can see all the food so easily when you open the doors. So bright and lit beautifully. (We waste so little food now that we can see it all.) Love the inside water feature. In our renovated kitchen it's one of our favorite things!

When it was delivered; it didn't work. We had a repair man come out and he said there was no "gas" in the system. SO the next day he came and supplied the "gas", and it did work. We love our appliances, but sometimes, things happen. Kitchen aide came immediately to fix the problem.

One month in and we like this fridge very much. Not tons of cubic feet because counter depth, but we wanted a fridge that fit very snugly in our cabinet space (72" x 36") and there is plenty of room inside for us. Not much space for many tall items, so we bought a simple, two-bottle rack that sits horizontally on a shelf. We also bought inserts for "deli drawer," which otherwise would just become the "junk drawer" of the fridge. (KA should consider making that one standard.) One negative thing to note is that the fridge does not sit perfectly flush against side counters because the door hinges need some room to work. We had thought the design was such that the hinges moved the door out so the whole fridge could sit flush, but no. As a result, if you have a perfectly sized cabinet space (i..e, 36 inches wide) you have to leave the fridge about 2 inches out (the width of the outer doors). It all still looks good, but not perfect. Love the cold water dispenser inside!

We always wanted a unit with the freezer on the bottom and refrigerator on top, but we're worried about how much storage space we'd have. Well, with this model, there is more than enough room! Everything has easy access, removal for cleaning and unique features! Especially, love the filtered water dispenser inside! I would highly recommend this appliance!

We purchased this since we have bedn satusfied with most of our other Kitchenaid appliances. Very disappointed. Refrigerator space is too small wuth limited adjustment, drawers are cheaply made, and the trim design of the doortops make it difficult to clean.

Holds more than you think it would being a counter depth. Can easily see things on shelves. . Not having water and ice dispenser on door is no problem. Water dispenser inside. Are children are all grown so no door being opened a lot. Love the ice maker and the small cubes are great. Hooked up all water lines to water purifier works great. Were surprised how quiet it is. Like that.

We originally bought a Kitchenaid double door cabinet depth refrigerator when we built our house 12 years ago. It was and still is a great frig, but we felt we needed more space. It is amazing that by replacing the double door with a French door refrigerator, the difference in space. We can't believe that it the same size.

I've only had this refrigerator 2 weeks and I love it. I particularly love the deli drawer. The fridge is bright with flexible shelving and even the freezer space is flexible since the compartments slide over each other. The door ajar alert has already gone off once and I can't wait to adjust the humidity in the produce drawers

I like the look of it but I don't like the way the doors close. It's easy to leave open a little which causes water to collect. I wouldn't get this one. This refrigerator is loud.
