Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Fridge has defects!

Jade22 4/9/2018

Model KFIS27CXMS5 - This fridge made random beeping sounds. Certified repair guy said it was a software defect so he inserted a USB for a few minutes to upgrade the software and charged me over $100. I asked repair guy to contact KitchenAid to waive the fee - he contacted KitchenAid but they refused to waive the fee even though it was a defect. The water dispenser started dispensing water so slowly that I rarely use it anymore. Ice builds up in the bottom of the freezer constantly and then leaks water onto the floor a couple times a week. After researching online, I found out this is a common problem in many KitchenAid models (and Whirlpool, which is the same company). There are YouTube vids on how to replace the duck bill Tube Drain part to fix the leaking water but it is labor intensive and KitchenAide will not pay to fix this. The part is defective as over time it will continue to get stopped up and will need to be replaced again. I will not buy a KitchenAid or (Whirlpool) again.

No wonder this model was discontinued.

S E L 3/29/2018

We purchased this refrigerator from a local appliance store several years ago after buying replacing a Hotpoint refrigerator that had come from the factory with no coolant. We noticed the ice was clumping and rust was coming out with the ice after a few years. The service technician replaced the entire ice dispenser assembly (after letting us know that it wasn't covered by the warranty) and installed a heater in the door. He told us there should have been one and there wasn't. He also told us this was not the first time this problem occurred and the bottom metal plate was rusting. I noticed rust building up in the replaced assembly in the same place last year and contacted KitchenAid. They answered and advised there were no known recalls or issues with this model, but they did offer a customer loyalty program. Since then, the assembly in the door that turns the auger has rusted, the door with the icemaker keeps opening even though there is a good seal and the doors are level and every now and then the motor makes a loud sound like it is laboring to cool. I waited too long to check into the program, and was advised by customer service today that the program was limited and had expired. Guess I will check into other brands.

Very disappointed

Poor choice 2/23/2018

Purchased at the end of 2011. Many problems, the latest being the water dripping on the floor from the refrigerator. Water hose valve replaced and now water from the freezer drips into the refrigerator. Repairman doesn't know what to do to repair it since the icemaker is working! Kitchenaid suggested contacting another authorized repair company! At $70-$100 just for a service call, that is unacceptable.

Nice Looking but Reliability Challenged

JBF99 1/9/2018

My wife and I bought this unit in 2011 from Sears. We also bought an extended warranty with it. In fact we bought the majority of our kitchen appliances at the same time. These appliances were all Kitchenaid, including this refrigerator, a double oven, a large built-in microwave and a 5 burner induction cooking range. We've had no issues with the induction range, but we've experienced issues with all of the other appliances. The double oven had the control/display board malfunction sometime in the first couple of years. The microwave had the turntable motor fail (I think in the third year). The refrigerator had several failures throughout the years. The first was the water leaking because of a plugged drain hose (best recollection). The water leak was slow at first and it leaked under the refrigerator onto our hardwood floor. The floor was damaged but at least it was repairable. We've also experienced many ice cubes on the floor. Several times we noticed them dropping from the refrigerator minutes after someone used the ice dispenser. This would happen far too frequently and with varying amounts of ice. Finding one or two ice cubes on the floor was a frequent occurrence. We also experienced a few times where many, many cubes fell over a longer period of time (perhaps an hour or more). We would come into the kitchen and there would appear to be a "water and ice" party on the floor. We're thinking that the ice dispenser design has some sort of flaw. Now, the current problem is that the refrigerator won't stay cold. Around the 2017 year-end holiday season, we discovered that the food seemed to be too warm. We checked the refrigerator temperature and found it to be near 50 degrees. As we checked the freezer temperature, it was slightly above the desired temperature, but our food was still being kept frozen. We had to throw out a significant amount of refrigerated food because of this issue. We called the Sears repair service and scheduled a visit asap. After nearly two weeks without a refrigerator, the repair service appointment date arrived. The repairman informed us that our refrigerator needed to have the main cooling components replaced at a cost of over $1,000. However, he told us that if we could provide him with proof of purchase (within the last 10 year window) that the manufacturer should cover the parts. However the labor would still be about $800. That leaves us a harsh decision of whether to put that money into a 6 year old refrigerator or replace it. We're struggling with this choice.

It's one thing after another...

NFNeg 1/7/2018

Refrigerator is five going on six years old. I've had to replace the water "bladder" (for lack of a better word) system about a year ago, due to very slow water dispenser and non functional ice maker. Was hoping that would also fix the faulty icemaker. But did not to this day still can't figure out how to fix the icemaker.

Problem after problem

catteale13 10/17/2017

We purchased an entire KitchenAid suite of appliances when we moved into our house six years ago. There hasn't been a month that has gone by without issues. For this particular refrigerator, we've had the same leaking/freezer issue other reviewers have stated. A block of ice forms under the freezer drawers, you have to dismantle the entire bottom and back of the refrigerator to heat the coils/clean the coils. Meanwhile, the water drips on the floor (and we have wood),so you have to deal with the issue swiftly. In addition, we have yet for the water filter indicator to work correctly for more than a week. We've had both electronic boards replaced (in the first year),and customer service fought with us and the repairman regarding our knowledge and assumed we weren't pushing the correct buttons. Even after all boards were replaced, once resetting the filter, within a week or so the panel will show we need to change our filter and will ding with each water use. When calling customer service years ago about the on going issue, we were told we would have had to purchase the extended warranty to have it covered further. As these issues have occurred from the beginning of owning, I disagree, but gave up. Will be replacing our appliances as soon as possible!

Likes to leak

7/31/2017

I've had the refrigerator for a number of years. At least once/year there would be a puddle of water under the fridge. I would have to open up the freezer, take a hair dryer to the coils, pull the little rubber boot that is part of the drain mechanism and clean it and put it all back together and wait for the next time. I was able to fix this issue. But now the Smart Valve is leaking. I'm just glad I have tile floors where the water on the floor hasn't been an issue. If I had hardwoods there would have been a lot of damage. So I have had to turn the water off to the fridge and that means no ice or water dispenser until I can repair. I am not happy with this product. -----------------------------------------------------

WAter leaking

5/23/2017

The freezer developed a water leak on the front. The freezer had also a sheet of ice inside the bottom. I opened the front freezer evaporator cover and found the condensation tray full of ice and water. I had to open the bottom back panel of the refrigerator and found a rubber piece on the bottom of the freezer tray that was plugged. This rubber piece has a flat slot to allow the water to drain, but in my case it had sofetened and glued shut. I put silicon lubricant and put the piece back. I would say this is a faulty design issue.

WATER LEAKS ON THE FLOOR!!!

2/21/2017

There is a defect in the drain hole so the whole freezer bottom fills with a thick sheet of ice, then leaks all over the floor. Took me some time to understand what was going on, so now have cabinets that are rotted in between the 2 that we bought, along with floor issues that now need to get fixed!!

This fridge is unreliable and extremely expensive to maintain. Within 8 months we replaced multiple parts including the ice dispenser only to have everything stop working again less than 8 months later.

generally pretty good

wadesh 9/5/2016

I can't give it 5 stars because it's had some issues, freezer drain clogging and causing a leak (it had a design flaw that according to the repair guy KA pays for the redesigned part but not the fee to replace it. it also randomly shoots ice cubes out of the dispenser onto our floor. Even the repair guy said he's never seen anything like it. Said it's probably because a cube get caught then melts and falls out but it happens so frequently that I still view it as a design flaw of some sort. Our dogs love it though. On the pros it fits an amazing amount of food and is very versatile. The bottom freezer looks small but you can fit a ton in it. Looks and styling are very nice and other than the ice cube issue the dispenser has a ton of options with the digital screen works well.

Takes time to get used to features.

7/15/2016

Bought this appliance about 2 months ago. It is similar but different to the one it is replacing. We like the Freezer in the bottom drawer. The French doors and shelves set up, allows one to open only part of the fridge rather than the opening up the whole unit. The Down side is the Deli Centre drawer goes across the bottom of the whole fridge and one has to open both doors to access it. Why couldn't it be split like the rest ot the shelves? We like the Convernsion program but it does not convert Canadian Imp. liquids to Metric. Only converts American liquids. The rest of the conversions are good. The ice making unit is a bit noisier than our older unit but we are getting used to it. Over all it is a nice addition to our kitchen.

Water drains into freezer then onto floor

7/12/2016

A known design flaw in the drain gasket has caused us major hardwood floor damage. Very frustrated with the quality control from KitchenAid. I now have a new redesigned drain I have to install myself which is daunting due to our kitchen shape and where the fridge is. This is our second flawed KitchenAid appliance- our dishwasher had nylon upper rack brackets and wheels that would wear down due to heat and washing. I have replaced them twice with the same plastic parts and then found they came out with a metal design repalcement that fixed the issue. I am now scared to ever purchase any new KitchenAid appliance- I paid a premium price for a subpar designed product that should never have failed like this in the first place.

Would never buy again...

9/27/2015

We've had this refrigerator for about 3 years -- this is my least favorite appliance, ever. The ice maker is less than ideal, the ice is always in a big clump (I think because of the design, every time you open the left door, room temperature air goes straight into the ice reservoir); the water dispenser couldn't dispense any slower. I find it rare to actually open one door unless I only need a gallon of milk. Just inconvenient, and if you only open the left door, it doesn't shut properly without opening the right door as well -- left has to shut first. With our family of 4, it amazes me how many times I find the door just partly ajar, and it isn't always the kids. It just doesn't shut like a normal refrigerator. Door design is odd as well, leaves dead space below lowest door shelf on each side. I personally just really dislike the french doors, but overall it's just a bad design. We had the ice build up on the bottom as well (and a ton of leaking before we finally realized someone wasn't spilling water), but fortunately bought the extended warranty -- I have realized that this is a huge problem with this age of Kitchenaids, would think that the company would step up and say they screwed up and replace that drain piece for anyone affected.

worst refrigerator ever!!

7/12/2015

I have had this refrigerator for about 3 years. I bought Kitchenaid because I thought I was buying a quality appliance. It is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. I have had problems the entire time I have had it. First the ice maker didn't work. It was replaced. Froze up again, installed a "heater". Leaked from the bottom. Ruined my hardwood floors. It would cool, then quit cooling. I could unplug it and it would start cooling again. That went on for about a year. Finally quit cooling all together. Compressor was replaced. Worked 24 hrs and quit again. Came back out and fixed a leak. Would not cool below 40 degrees, then went up to 50 degrees.Sick of it!!!Fortunately I bought the extended warranty because I had so much trouble with it the first year. It is a LEMON! It should be replaced. A "not good" rating is generous. It's awful!

horrible appliance

6/7/2015

I bought this refrigerator about 4 years ago. Have had nothing but trouble. Probably started before the warranty ran out. Leaking from bottom onto floor. Was told drain tube from factory not big enough. Replaced for $180.00. Lasted about a year. Leaking from bottom again. Bad valve. Replaced for $219.00. Lasted 2 days. Ice maker leaking and everything in refrigerator is freezing. This time told it needs upper valve. Bottom valve feeds it. And if this doesn't fix it I am told I will need a heater kit for it for an additional $320.00. Still waiting on part. This is ridiculous! I paid $2600.00 for a piece of junk! KitchenAid nor Whirlpool will not stand by this product. I am not happy!!!

I bought this 2 months ago and it is set up in our living room while our kitchen is remodeled. Love having the water and ice outside the door and the space of the interior. I will say the water is so slow coming out that we sometimes just use the faucet which is a con to the item, but everything else about it is great.
