After owning this product for 4 years, there was a crack in the inside tubing/valve that was leaking out of the back of the fridge. It ruined our wood floors and they have to be refinished/replaced. Whirlpool/Kitchen-aid does not help with any of this after one year. Quite an expensive refrigerator to not have something like that covered. I expected at least the $300 bill to fix the tubing/valve but they did not cover anything. Will not buy any products from this company again.

Purchased in May 2013. 1st repair at 3 months for ice on the fresh food ceiling.
3 repairs in 2016 for not working ice maker and interior fresh food ice buildup.
3 repairs in 2017 for water leaking from ceiling, freezer ice buildup and frozen water under deli drawer in fresh food compartment.
Have to now schedule a 2018 repair for repeated ice buildup under deli drawer and ice buildup in freezer with loud fan. Compressor running almost constantly.
Seems like every repair visit is a guessing game as to what is actually wrong. Parts must always be ordered which takes a week.
Seems like having water and ice in the fresh food compartment is a bad idea. KitchenAid has not figured it out from all the reviews I am reading.

I bought this refrigerator 3 y ago and in the last 6mo the freezer drawer insert broke, the ice maker completely stopped making ice, and now the freezer stopped working entirely.

We bought this along with all KitchenAid appliances for our kitchen remodel 3 years ago. Within a year the whole refrigerator had to be replaced and thankfully it was under warranty. Now we have had to replace the icemaker ($350) on an appliance that is only 2 years old. Not sure KitchenAid will be my next appliance purchase.

Purchased kitchenaid appliances for new home in 2013. First day the refrigerator had to be replaced. Since that time, we have replaces evap motor, thermistor (3 times), water tank for water dispenser. Kitchenaid customer service is very very poor as they do not seem to really care and offer little assistance. Looking for a new fridge.....

We have never had as many problems with a refrigerator as this one. Stopped freezing before we had it 6 mths...(2013). Now this year (2017) we called because of a really loud sounding noise that keep gettign worse. Parts where replaced (I am not sure what all, but I know the evaporator and compressor). Now ice maker stops working about every 3rd day. The repair shop finally took it in and had it for over 2 weeks fixing it. We got it back and worked good for about 3 weeks, then started the same thing.... stops making ice and what ice is in the container starts melting. We either got a LEMON, or this is a poorly made refrigerator. Now, the company we bought it from and have had it serviced at is offering us $ to trade it in. Also, the measured water feature is out of calibration by about 3 or 4 ounces.

Terrible from the beginning. Water line froze, Freezer broke, multiple racks broke internally, tracks broke, water leaks consistently out of the water/ice tray. I bought only 4 years ago, and it has been an absolute mess. Not a year passes without breaking.

We researched appliances and were very happy with this refrigerator for 3 1/2 years. 2 weeks ago, the ice maker stopped working and the freezer woukd not get cold enough. An authorized repair company picked it up and determined that there was an irreparable leak in the coolant lines that are encased in insulation around the unit. Our warranty covered many other things, but not that problem so it was junk. We needed to buy a brand new refridgerator. I will never buy another KitchenAid refridgerator again. It was an expensive disposable piece of junk.

I bought this 4 years ago and have already replaced the evaporator twice. Luckily it's a"known issue " and the warranty is extended. Hope it doesn't leak freon again. It's also pretty noisy, but otherwise is nice. Plenty of space and looks good.

Bought this fridge 2 years ago. At least 8 service calls later--including the one yesterday that was supposed to fix it once and for all-- and tonight, the fridge temp is 58F and the freezer is 50F. Lost most of my food today. Haven't been able to make ice since June. I rate this fridge ZERO stars, but this site requires me to give it at least one in order to submit the review--a cheap way to boost ratings!!! I'll never buy another Kitchenaid, and I'll tell everyone who'll listen about my experience.

KitchenAid (KFIS29BBB) This is our 2nd one. Bought the first in July 2013 and had repeated problems with both the freezer and refrigerator. After talking with our dealer rep we replaced it with an identical model in June 2015. It worked perfectly for 14 months and then the refrigerator section stopped cooling. No warning, nothing. One repair company said we needed a new freezer fan motor. Extended warranty company is sending out a repairman. We are now 2 weeks without a refrigerator. We're going to give it one repair and if it fails, then out the door. As for a replacement, another repairman advised us to use the KISS method.

Very roomy and spacious, but makes a lot of different noises

We've had this frig for about a month and I love how spacious it is. The French doors are great and I'm able to store so much more in the freezer and refrigerated sections than I was in my side by side. My last KA frig lasted 18 yrs, but I know they're not made like they used to be. What I don't like is that it makes so many different noises all of the time. Makes me nervous. AND, I don't like the ice maker being in the refrigerator. It doesn't make ice near as fast or hold near as much as my old frig and the ice isn't as cold either. When reaching into the ice container in my last KA frig, the ice was so cold that it was dry. So if my hands were wet, the ice would stick to my hands. That's what I would expect for an ice machine/container. Not so with this one. The ice is WET which means it doesn't keep the ice near as cold as if the ice machine is in the freezer.

Most expensive and worst refrigerator I've ever had. I have had it barely 3 years. Have needed repairs 4 times. Lost all my food 9 months ago. Just had the exact same problem and it's not fixed. If you wait on hold 45 minutes warranty department is rude and not helpful.

So far it's been a great unit refrigerator quit cooling thought was serious but ended up some thing in freezer drawer was not letting it close all the way didn't notice and froze up coils repair guy pointed it out defrosted it and runs great customer support was great even though I was in hold suposed to be around 10 minutes and was actually an hour before I spoke to someone but treated me well

Bought this with our new house, closed May 2013. Have had constant issues since day one. They replaced it once during warranty yet issues continue. Ice maker just failed for the THIRD time in 3 years!!! Have also had multiple other issues, water leaking, loud humming, doors not shutting/sealing, hoses breaking, etc. Worst refrigerator I have ever owned going to replace this after only 3 years - horrible for a $2000+ refrigerator.

Ice Maker quit working / freezes up in less than 1.5 years

My ice maker stopped working 6 months ago for the first time. I had to unload the entire refrigerator to access the ice maker in the ceiling of the refrigerator. Ice was built up in the back of the refrigerator ceiling. Once I removed the ice, the ice maker started working again for about 1 month and now it has stopped again. This is supposed to be a top of the line refrigerator / freezer and it is not right that the ice maker is useless.

We've had our KitchenAid appiances installed for about 3 years. We have had some sort of issue with every single one of them. The fridge has been the worst. It runs way nosier than our last unit. It needed service about 2 years in for ice forming on the inside of the rear of the fridge and at 3 years we had a Freon leak that required a whole condenser replacement. Thankfully these items were covered under warranty so we weren't out tons of money, but the inconvenience of getting them repaired is still there. I would think twice before purchasing KitchenAid appliances in the future.

It's a great fridge. I'm still getting used to having one with ice/water function. Not really fond of the smaller door shelves but am glad to have them for condiments. I love the freezer, retractable shelf, and how well the magnetic doors clean up.

We bought this refrigerator a couple of months ago and are so pleased with the extra shelf space provided due to the drawer freezer. The only minor complaint we would have is that you have to open both doors to access the small drawer beneath the shelving. Not a real problem once you get used to this process. The water and ice components on the door and the other indicators are great.

Great fridge! I'm very picky with my appliances. The dual zone cooling, TONS of space, and quite operation are exaclty what I wanted. You can hear 'more' noises that a typical fridge, but they are normal fridge noise. The reason I hear them, the compressor is SO quiet, it allows you to hear the other stuff. I moved from a side by side, with the same dimensions, it's like night and day. The same amount of food, now takes up less than 1/2 of the availabel space. My fiance was concerned the door controls would be confusing, but they are very intuitive and easy to use. Don't need to hit the buttons much at all, after initial setup. Just openign the handel, you can feel a lot of attention was paid to makign it feel tight and solidly built. Great fridge! If it's in your budget, get it!

We have had this refrigerator for about a month and in addition to having a leak in the refrigerator portion, it is annoying to have to open 2 doors most of the time when you want to get something from the refrigerator. Also the water dispensing system, etc. is too complicated - they have pictures showing the functions, but you have to hit a screen below the pictures when you want the function. The system is not intuitive.

Love the size of this one! Family of 5 so it fits everything I need to place inside. Also I like the lighting inside, very bright making it feel even larger. Only two minor complaints, one the ice maker doesn't hold a lot so if your having a party buy bagged ice. Secondly, it does make a lot of noise, the rep who sold it to me assured me this was normal as it has two fans working. It has taken some time to get used to the noise level. I own the "sister" dishwasher and it is SUPER quiet so I was startled at the noise level. Some mornings I come out and the noise still catches me off guard. This is the only reason I gave this 4 stars. Otherwise, I would recommend to anyone.

I love my Kitchenaid fridge with the exception that the left hand door does not close if the right hand one is closed first. Also, the water catcher tray is constantly dripping downt he front of the fridge and onto the floor leaving no water in the tray.

Just love this fridge!! Great use of space. We wanted to have water and ice available on the door and this fridge does that without using the shelf space. It's all on the door and there are still 3 door shelves to use too. It has all the extra features.- lights, temperature controls for the pull out drawers

After 2 months the facia was replaced, the main control board was replaced an interface board was replaced. After 1 1/2 years the same problem is occurring, no ice and the technician is questioning what else it could be. Kitchenaid just states we should have gotten the extended warranty.

I purchased this amazing Kitchenaid refrigerator a month ago and I am so glad that I did. It is more roomy than I had expected, looks absolutely gorgeous in my kitchen, and has all the best and latest features. The Sabbath mode is a really convenient bonus as well. The motor is very quiet and the performance is superior. This item exceeded my expectations in every way and I give it my highest recommendation.
