The Preserva® Food Care System is an innovative approach to food preservation. Sequential dual evaporators optimize humidity levels independently inside the refrigerator and freezer and the Produce Preserver helps keep produce deliciously fresh. A third feature, the FreshFlow Air Filter reduces common food odors.

Good fridge just doesn't last long

I've had this refrigerator just five years now. Have loved it so far but it quit making ice and apparently is leaking freon. I had a technician here that said they had problems with this but it would cost over 2000.00 to fix so I should just buy a new one. I paid 4800.00 for this fridge and seriously??? All they are made to last is 5 years.......not so happy with Kitchenaid right nowe

Discontinued Model - I See Why!!

When we remodeled the kitchen in 2012 we bought all new KitchenAid appliances. We purchased the 22.7 Cu. Ft counter depth side-by-side refrigerator model KSC24C8EYY serial # HR2K04292. We also purchased the extended warranty for 3 years. After the extended warranty expired our repair bills have exceeded the price we paid for the refrigerator.Continuous problems with the ice maker and freezer. I finally went to the KitchenAid site and started reading the reviews. Now I see why this refrigerator was discontinued and there were some many poor reviews. Next purchase I will read the reviews before purchasing.

Last year, after owning three years we had to have both of the defrost thermostats replaced. Now we are having to replace the drain pan since it rusted through. The water dispenser only works periodically. Not what we expected from KitchenAid!

I decided to google this model since we have had multiple problems with our refrigerator. And now I know many others are. We have to clean our refrigerator every 2 weeks or mold develops on sides and back. Water has shot out the ice dispenser 3 times in 5 months luckily every time i was home and in the kitchen. Every drawer has broke in refrigerator we had to epoxy them together. NOW ice maker is not working and freezer isn't keeping ice cream solid and it's at -1 degrees. I am hoping KITCHENAID will honor their name brand and do something about this .

I've had this fridge for only a little over 3 years and the bottom two drawers have ice accumulating in the fridge. The rest of the fridge is not cold anymore and I had to throw away all my food in the fridge. The vents by the drawers are blocked with ice.

I bought this around 7 years ago, it worked fine until year 3 than my ice maker broke, I had it repaired and it broke again and I decided not to repair it. 1 week ago I accidentally hit ice vs water and the fridge leaked water all over the floor. Shortly after my freezer went warm and I lost over $500 worth of food. My fridge is working but not as cold. The majority of my drawers are falling apart due to use. I do have a appointment booked for Thursday to review, may be a compressor but for a $3000 fridge very disappointed. I will probably buy a new fridge instead of repairing they don't build them like they use to

Premium Price for Low End Quality

We purchased this fridge 2.5 years along with other KA appliances for our kitchen remodel. We are only happy with our cooktop (KGCU467VSS) and hood (KXW8736YSS 1200cfm). The fridge, dishwasher (KUDE40FXSS), and double oven (KEBS207BSS) we are not happy with. So about the fridge. Within the first year we had the ice maker replaced twice. It was making ice very slowly or not at all. It would freeze up and not produce ice. After the 1 year warranty was up the ice maker continued to have problems. When "max ice" was selected it would/still does freeze up and not produce ice. It still dispenses ice poorly and very slow. But the main reason for the review is that today it stopped getting cold. Luckily I have a basement fridge and deep freezer so I wont have to throw away any food. We have had this fridge for 2.5 years and with normal use it stopped getting cold. For the price of this appliance you should get more than 2.5 years of use out of it before parts need to be replaced. I am not the type of person to write a review but this is really aggravating and want others to know to stay away. Shame on me for not doing better research. There are much better appliances out there for same price if not cheaper.

Ice Dispenser frozen

We purchased refrigerator from Bulider of our home 3 years ago...It was part of the kitchen appliance package. Since then we have had several issues with Ice Maker not making ice...To now waking up and finding water on your wood floors...Now to the ice dispenser not working.....Have had the repair guy out twice to be told the auger is frozen and we must defrost the unit...What a pain and inconvenience.Worry this can happen again. Ice maker never worked properly

I bought this in 2014 for my kitchen remodel. The ice maker stopped working within months, flooding my new kitchen. Three separate repairmen came out. Ordered 2 new doors, one new ice maker unit, still floods periodically or just stops making ice. Hate it. So expensive and so flawed. If the company had any integrity they would have replaced it.

Not Very Reliable for the Price

We bought this refrigerator in July 2013 because my wife liked the counter depth size. The refrigerator performed well for 3 years and then we noticed that the temperature in the refrigerator side was rising to 50 degrees causing spoiled food. We found a huge amount of ice and frost on the evaporator coils in the back of the fresh food section. The repairman told us to defrost the fridge (what a pain) and after some testing discovered a failed thermistor in the evaporator. After just 3 years I would say this part failure is not very reliable for a refrigerator costing more than $2,000. This may be a good fridge if you are an appliance repairman, but otherwise I would choose a more reliable brand.

We purchased this Kitchenaid side by side refrigerator a little over 4 years ago. We have had the sealed refrigerator system replaced TWICE and it needs it again. We bought an extended warranty when the first non cooling incident happened. Then a year later it happened again. Same problem. Cheap parts. Each time takes about a month to get fixed. We decided to buy the warranty for another year and in only six months from the last repair it is doing exactly the same thing. Repair technician to come in a few days. The frig side is approximately 45 degrees and the freezer is around 21 degrees. The only way we aren't losing lots of perishables is to put them in the freezer. This is the worst purchase we have ever made.

2 fridges and 3 service calls in 24 months.

I'm so disappointed in the whole Kitchen Aid experience. I purchased a range, this refrigerator, and a oven hood and all three have had major issues. The first fridge came from the show room with a defective compressor and essentially DOA. It took almost a week for the selling company to replace it with another one. Meanwhile an entire refrigerator contents went bad. Once the new one arrived, it took about 12 months for it to have an issue where water was leaking from the unit onto my floors (which were ruined) and after battling KA on the phone, they agreed to come out and fix. The culprit was some debris in the water line that was causing it to overflow somewhere. The technician was trying to pin the blame on me but how could I get something into the water line or drain which is sealed? I had to replace about 20 sq/ft of flooring from the leak at my expense. This morning, I was getting something out of the fridge and noticed that my floor was wet and quickly discovered that there is water pouring out of the freezer door. I pulled the fridge away from the wall and discovered that the floor is wet and ruined again. I called a tech to see if they can help me out but I can't believe that a 2 year old refrigerator needs this much attention and has caused this much damage in my home. Not what I expect from a premium product.

OMG, look at something else!

I have had this fridge since October 31, 2013. I have had water leaking under the fridge (cracked water line), I had EVERY drawer face get pulled off and are now glued on with epoxy. And now, now I have had no ice for over two months. The extended warranty service that I purchased through Kitchenaid has been out 4 times and is scheduled for a fifth. The appoint is in 7 days, he will order parts, and then I will have to wait another 7 days for him to install it. And from all the reviews, it looks like it will not be fixed. Good thing this refrigerator has been discontinued. Kitchenaid should recall every single one of them.

Continual Icemaker Problems

Warning: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

I've had this model for 3 years and if there was a negative star, I would give it 2 negative stars. The ice maker would stop for no reason and then start back up for no reason. In June of 2016, some water line started leaking on the fridge side. The warranty repairman showed me an s-curve plastic tube which was behind the vegetable drawer (location of the leak) that he said was clogged. He cleaned out and suggested that I keep paper towels under the drawer. Sure enough, layers of paper towels came out sopping wet day after day. Called warranty repairman back as original problem not fixed. Came back and removed the entire back of fridge side. Now water is pouring out of the water dispenser. Warranty and repairman are giving me the run around. DO NOT BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY. They use poor quality service providers and it's my fault that the fridge is leaking. Oh, and if it is not leaking, they will charge me a service call. What??? Huge disappointment in KitchenAid though no surprise to them in the profit department. How can they design and build a costly machine that lasts for 2-3 years?

Cheaply made plastic parts!-drawer fronts break off easily, ice maker is undependable, I take good care of my appliances and have never had these issues with any previous one. Do NOT buy this refrigerator!

Buyer be warned! Do NOT buy this model. It is a total piece of rubbish! We purchased this refrigerator less than two years ago. In that time, we have had the ice maker repaired and eventually replaced. We also had a new compressor installed/replaced. Most recently, we had to have a new thermostat installed as the refrigerator wasn't cooling properly. Each time the refrigerator broke down, we lost so much food. Obviously, this was a total bummer. However, the other problem was that the repair company couldn't repair it for over a week each time. 2-3 days to order parts plus another few days to get the repair date scheduled. Oh and by the way, we have had a few of the plastic drawers replaced as well. I let Kitchen Aid Customer Service know about my concerns and they stated I should have gotten an "extended warranty". Worst appliance I have ever purchased

Have had this for just over 1-1/2 years. The first one was broken when it was delivered. The second one has seen serviced 6 times so far. Currently the freezer is not working at all due to a leak in the sealed system. We haven't had a working freezer/ice maker in almost two months. And the repair company Kitchenaid has assigned is less than responsive. Again, worst appliance I have ever purchased and I will never purchase Kitchenaid again

Having issues with the internal cooling coils. Slow leek. Lost use of freezer first and now after a week of waiting for warranty repairs frig is no longer cooling. Don't know how long it will be until we have a working refrigerator. The problem with the refrigerator is a design flaw and a common fail. We had to pay $89.00 for a repairman to come out to identify the breakdown. When you consider this problem is caused by poor design and they're repairing it with improved parts you'd think kitche aid would cover the repair. Estimated cost of repair: $1,200-$1,400! The ice maker is not very efficient. It does keep up with a small family but if you're planning a family get together or party be sure to buy ice. Our snack drawer cracked within four years of use. Be aware that replacing the drawer is expensive...$125 for a small sized plastic bin. About the only positive thing I can say about this refrigerator is I do prefer the counter depth size. After talking to several repairmen and finding out most refrigerators on today's market are built to last only about seven years I would say this refrigerator is definitely not worth the money you would spend on it.

It Sucks

On a newly build home, we upgraded to Kitchen Aid appliances; what a mistake. The appliances are less than 3 years old and the frig has broken down 3 times already and this time the ice maker is not dispensing ice however in order to fix it we need a new freezer door which is around $1800 !! And the oven broke too and doesn't heat at all; all new elements needed, really? How cheap is this brand, and we paid extra for appliance upgrade. Never ever again will we buy anything Kitchen Aid.

Short-lived appliance

After 3 years and 4 months the unit stopped cooling due to a "bad sealed system," a leak in the connecting tubing according to the KitchenAid-authorized repairman. KitchenAid has in fact passed off the problem to an unresponsive repair service more interested in selling a new service plan than fixing the problem. We will be 1 to 2 weeks without refrigeration. We are disappointed in the quality and the service.

ANOTHER ICE MAKER ISSUE

We have had unit 2 years. Ice maker did not work on arrival, changed it out and working before we moved into home. Stopped working 6 mos ago, I researched on line and cleaned electronic eye controllers out. Started up that nght. Now not working again have cleaned it 3x. Notice several reviews with poor ice maker. Have another technician coming out next week to look at

not happy.....

I bought this refrigerator along with a Kitchen Aid double oven, gas range, and dishwasher. We needed to purchase the counter depth size because of the configuration of our kitchen. After just 3 years - our ice maker stopped making ice....that is a bad sign b/c that meant that our freezer and refrigerator was not cooling properly. We have been without a properly working refrigerator and freezer for over a month - last week the refrigerator and freezer was "repaired"....actually they took the whole thing apart and changed the evaporator and compressor.....still not working - our freezer is currently warmer than our home. We have lost a fridge and freezer full of food TWICE - very unhappy - do your research before you invest.......

22.7 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Side-by-Side Refrigerator

We purchased this fridge and several other KitchenAid appliances as a total kitchen renovation. Twice in the last three months we've had a tech out to replace the "control board" as frost was on the back lower interior wall of the fridge section (see photo). In addition, the install of the appliances was delayed 3 months due to construction, thus the initial one year warranty period started when the appliances were purchased, not installed. We would consider purchasing another brand next time.

Great space, but lacking a few details

I have owned this refrigerator since April 2015. Overall it's a really excellent unit - quiet, and quite a bit of capacity for a "counter-depth" model. I love the water metering feature - displays how much water is dispensed, or automatically dispensed. Also, I love side-by-sides - no better design for freezer access and utility! However some definite negatives: 1) The exterior is VERY difficult to clean. It's a deeply grained stainless steel that looks great but easily gets streaky if you don't clean it in JUST the right way. My tip: hot water and lots of terry towel buffing rags. My Maytag dishwasher of the same age and stainless steel finish is much easier to clean. I think the grain is much deeper on the Refrigerator, giving it a better overall look, but making it harder to clean properly. 2) A bit of an internal electrical issue. Sometimes a few of the LED light bulbs inside don't light up when the door is opened unless you tap on them, there must be a loose connection at the bulb - tapping one usually fixes the rest of the series chain. 3) One of the wheels is a bit squeaky and you hear it when you open the door or are cleaning the surface. A bit annoying, but probably easily fixable with a little WD-40.

My wife and I purchased this product as part of a complete Kitchen remodel. We actually purchased the product before we started the remodel project because we really liked the appearance and we got a great deal on it. We liked the product so much that we decided to go with Kitchen Aid brand appliances throughout the entire kitchen. This refrigerator looks great, and performs flawlessly! Great! but I would make some changes

I have no complaints at all about how well this appliance works. I do, however, live with someone that has some disabilities so I wanted to move all the shelves down to a lower level on the door. I'm sure the company has it's reasons for this design but the shelves and their holders are not all made the same so they are not interchangeable. I can only move the butter holder down one notch so I wasn't able to make all the shelves accessible to my roommate. The water dispenser in the door also takes a lot of force to activate. I'm able bodied but I know one day, I won't be. Companies should all plan for this inevitability.

Little space inside

I had a previous KitchenAid counter depth refrigerator and it was very spacious inside. I bought this one because I thought it was going to be the same, however this fridge doesn't have not too much room inside, the vegetables drawer don't have room to put too many things inside. Canisters in the door too small, only 2 out of the four that have a decent size, the other two you can't even put an 18 pack of eggs in. Freezer the same, drawers too small.

I bought this fridge as part of a kitchen renovation and appliances up grade. I have found it keeps items in the fridge much colder than my previous fridge. The water and ice dispensers work beautifully. I could not be more pleased. My only concern is there could have been one more storage container in the fridge door.

Moved into brand new home and unit has not worked from day one. Two evaporator coils have been installed by repair folks- both did not work. Still without refrigerator/freezer for over a month. Still waiting to hear back from customer service!!

A rare find, but a real gem!

We had two critical criteria: side-by-side (we hate the drawer freezers - hard to organize, and food just gets buried in there), and counter-depth (fridge goes in a cabinet that is adjacent to a hallway, if it stuck out too much, it would intrude on the hallway). We selected this model over others simply because it had more space than usual. An excellent decision. We love the water dispenser, lighting (though two lights are quirky and don't always turn on), the finish on the shelves and drawers, the filtration system, and the overall space layout.
