Built by Whirlpool

I have owned for 5 years, has been very reliable and washes dishes very quietly. But it has the same fault all whirlpool dishwashers have problems with...... a design that will sooner of later have a problem in or near the main control board OVERHEAT. I had only a large amount of smoke and was awake during the event. I was able to quickly respond to the event and isolate electrical power quickly.

It works!

A dishwasher, in theory, should just quietly and completely wash the dishes! What a concept. This time it worked. Got me thru Thanksgiving dinner with no effort. Thank you. This dishwasher I heartily recommend.

Bought this diswasher in 2011, and was the biggest mistake. Since then, we've two problems with the control panels; one problem with the bottom rack, one problem with motor, and now one problem with the top rack failing. I'm very disappointed. The prior two Kitchenaid dishwashers I've owned were 5 and 7 years old, both without any problems. This one has had 5 major problems in 3 years. Never again will I buy a Kitchenaid dishwasher.

Underwhelming dishwasher

Our ownership of this product has been mixed. It generally cleans very well. It generally is quiet. However, it's incredibly quirky. Our old dishwasher failed a few months before we began a general kitchen renovation. We bought this unit intending to purchase new Kitchenaid appliances for the remodel. We'd use this dishwasher until we did the remodel and re-install it again later with the new kitchen. Overall, the dishwasher cleans pretty well. It does leave some spotting on glassware, but everything does come out clean with minimal pre-rinsing. It is generally very quiet. However, when it is draining the tub, it frequently has a loud rumble that's very disconcerting. Sometimes it's also impossible to select a cycle. The keypad on the door does not respond to touches and the LEDs do not light. Cycling the circuit breaker seems to resolve this problem. Some of the LEDs also don't light when a cycle is selected. For example, yesterday when I tried to select "Pro dry" the LED only lit dimly. I didn't want to go out to the garage to cycle the circuit breaker and ran it like that. The worst problem is that at the end of a cycle the bottom of the tub is full of water. Quite often the water is fairly dirty. I check the drain and it's clear. Since I can't be sure that the cycle ran correctly and that the dishes are really clean, we re-run it. It will usually work correctly the next time, especially if we choose a different cycle. However sometimes it will fail to drain the tub three or four consecutive washes. Usually in these cases, cycling the circuit breaker seems to "fix" the problem until it occurs again a few days later. We are very happy with the results of the kitchen remodeling, especially with the other appliances, which are Wolf and Subzero. We changed our minds about the appliances when we were in the design phase. But since Subzero doesn't make dishwashers and since this is a fairly expensive dishwasher, we reinstalled it. According to the Kitchenaid parts website, the electronics parts are about $400 plus another one or two hundred for a service call comes awfully close the the point where it might just make more sense to buy something more reliable than a dishwasher that fails after only two years of light usage.

This product was purchased not only for it being rated highly by Consumer Reports, but because it is extremely quiet, which was a very important factor. My previous two dishwashers in thirty six years were not very quiet and this one makes me forget that it is even running, which is fantastic!!!

Easy to use. Love that the controls are out of reach of my toddler. Washes great-no need to rinse dishes. Like the adjustable top shelf and little top pull out shelf.

I love this dishwasher. The shelves are very efficient as well as the silverware holders. I like having the buttons on the top of the door and not on the front of the dishwasher. The many options for running it are nice also. This is by far and away the very quietest dishwasher I have ever had. I can barely hear it even when my ear is right next to it. I highly recommend it.

I love the size - it holds so much. It is also quiet as can be. I love the green light that reminds me to empty out clean dishes. I love the third tray that holds knives and such. Best dishwasher I've ever owned.

when we decided to build our home, I began the process of choosing new appliances. I visited a store and the manager happened to be the sales associate that helped that day. I told him what I needed and he said he had a great product for me. He showed me this dishwasher and explained its features. I then asked what dishwasher he had in his home. It was the same that he was showing me. I trusted the information he shared about this particular dishwasher. We have now owned it for 6 months and it is fabulous! Not only is it an attractive appliance, it is extremely quiet, easy to load and unload(the silver ware tray removes and can be carried to wherever you need), and the tray in the top is an added bonus. I would purchase this item again and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a topnotch dishwasher.
