I bought this dishwasher and had 4 service calls the first year because it leaked every time I used it. Top rack brackets all broke and I had to make custome brackets. Worse product ever! It didn't even last 4 yrs. Now it does not even clean and liquid soap tray will not open. Horrible product

Plastic material on top rack is breakable. The unit is less than 3 years old with very light usage. Heat has made plastic parts breakable.

We've owned the unit for 6 years. We've had several expensive repairs and replacements, primarily to the top rack, because the parts wear out and break.It's becoming harder to find replacement parts, which means a replacement unit won't be far off

Very nice looking! Sleek and sounds great while in use. The problems start with upper rack hardware failures and pretty bad leakage when using the advanced cycles. The unit is too young, in my opinion, to suffer from these type of failure modes. Thanks for making a nice looking dishwasher, but please work on the mechanics.

Great dishwasher, doesn't last long

We bought this dishwasher the summer (July 29) we were building our house but didn't get it installed until Nov that year when our house was ready. On Aug 1st (5 years after we bought it) sparks flew out of the machine. Since it was 3 days after our 5 year purchase date even though we didn't get it until Nov it was past our 5 year warranty on the electrical board so we were out. We're buying a new dishwasher because the cost to fix this one isn't worth the extra money.

Dishwasher dead after three years

Had this dishwasher for 3 years before it started to short circuit and then died. Fried up the control panel and a another part after that. Repairs and part will cost more than the current value of this machine.

We have had this dishwasher for about three years. It's been serviced twice already. once for leaking and then a control panel issue. Now it stopped working altogether. Won't do anything. This is a poor product. We are now on our second full kitchenaid kitchen appliance set and the quality of this dishwasher does not match your other products. Very disappointed. I will buy my next appliance from someone who stands behind their products.

I just bought it in october 2014, it is less than 3 yrs and now the electric panel is short circuited, and the repair is costing it $500 . (As good as buying a new one) Did not expect that a high end dishwasher would not last so much.

I am currently waiting to have the FOURTH set of electronic controls ordered and installed. I purchased this machine in 2013. That's a lot of problems for an expensive appliance, and a lot of time off work.

This is my second KitchenAid. The first did well for about 10 years. This one absolutely is terrible. It's two years old. The batch of plastic that they used for most of the rack parts is bad and break. The chopper unit design is awful (doesn't really work) which means you need to constantly get in and clean it (or get a repairman if you are not mechanical enough. I have a spare pump on hand for when the weezy one in there inevitably fails. What happened?

I have had this dishwasher for 4 years. I agree with the negative reviews that precede me: The top rack pieces are extremely cheap, and I spent $75 to replace parts within the first year. My greater problem is that the top rack doesn't get clean: I can't use the center section at all. The sprayer on the ceiling must be clogged, because this morning the top rack dishes were covered in a greasy film on the top. Both the top and bottom sprayer arms are continually getting clogged - I have to pick food fragments out with a tweezer after every load. Either the "Food disposer based wash system" is broken, or it is ineffective. This is ridiculous given the price and the age.

The dishwasher I replaced with this KitchenAid was only 3 years old. It was noisy, required lots of detergent and didn't clean the dishes. I am thrilled with this new KitchenAid. Its quiet, requires only minimal detergent and creates the cleanest dishes you could ask for. No need to rinse before putting dishes in the machine. FANTASTIC!

I bought this dishwasher about 2 years ago. We use it only once a week for a 1-hour wash cycle and no heat dry. Even with this light use the silverware tray fell apart. I asked Kitchenaid to replace it and they refused.

Was great until warranty expired! Now at 16 months old it needs a major repair. I've owned good Kitchen Aid products in the past but am totally disappointed in the lack of durability of this dishwasher. Will not buy another Kithen Aid dishwasher or product again! Poorly Constructed - Don't Buy

My husband and I bought this machine in Jan. 2011. The plastic parts disintegrated on the top rack and the electronics went out on it so only the 1 hour cycle works now. We've replaced and repaired in along the way. Too expensive for the quality. When it works, it cleans well and is quiet, but not a good value for your money. We are not heavy users of the machine either. We bought a new dishwasher tonight from another manufacturer.

I bought this in 2013 and first the top rack broke. everything on the rack is plastic. it is gently used as it is just my wife and I. Now the control board is malfunctioning and wont open the water valve. $200+ repair on a 2 year old appliance. Don't buy this!

We've had this KitchenAid ProScrub 49 (KUDS35FXSs) for approx. 2 1/2 years and it serves us well. Dishes are clean, the operation is quiet and we have no issues with the rack accommodating the majority of our dishes. There are some dishes that are too big or bulky for any residential dishwasher. Our only disappointment came about 3 months ago when the top basket came off its tracks. Closer inspection showed the wheel were no longer attached to the tracks - three of them had the plastic 'hub' broken. Rather than call repair and pay the standard $125 service charge, I opted to buy the replacement part from Sears and replace it myself. Thankfully, the new part is an improved design and installation was not too complicated. The instructions helped but you'll learn more by looking at how the old one is installed. It clips on with only one screw on each side. Despite this design flaw, I would still recommend this series of KitchenAid dishwashers.

In theory - was supposed to be a great dishwasher and we paid a bit more for sound quality. In reality - it's been awful. Sound has been OK but certainly not as quiet as other similarly price units. Also - as stated by others this dishwasher is constantly breaking as the insides being made of some type of plastic which constantly becomes brittle and then fails. Huge issue. Would not recommend Kitchenaid as a viable option for anyone. Has taught me to make sure to inspect the entire inside of the dishwasher and identify where the rollers are and what they are made of. I have continued to repair but as some point you simply have to say enough.
