Our current dishwasher, was a Samsung who have recently entered the appliance marketplace, we had only experience reliability problems, and after several frustrating call decided to change for peace of mind. We opted for a Maytag which was not cheap, but an american brand with a strong reputation to deliver innovation, and a customer centric service, since having the dishwasher since April, we only have praise for features such a 47db quiet motor, stainless steel internal housing and a touch control front panel that comes standard, the no lemon extended guarantee direct from Maytag. Maytag, customer service representative was very help when a all error code appeared on the digital display, and arranged the engineer immediately. They have kept us up to date with the progress, which was the same with another big brand store that was rude and unwilling to go the extra mile, once the product was sold and out the door. The warranty that Maytag offer with their appliances is worth the paper it has been written on, unlike others.

It's a dishwasher...

Nothing unique about this dishwasher. Most of the moving parts on the inside are plastic, flimsy and cheap feeling. No adjustable rack for height. Need to leave the door open overnight to have the dishes dry completely even after running the heated drying cycle. On a positive note, it is fairly quiet, holds a decent amount of dishes and looks nice. Definitely preferred my old Kenmore in terms of performance and quality. I've had it about a month and only used it a few times in that span so I cannot attest to durability. The installation person failed to attach the drain tube to the garbage disposal and I had to ask him to complete that step (after he had the dishwasher running already) before he left or that could have been messy. I bought online sight unseen and took a risk with a meh result.

I think this will be a great dishwasher. It is very quiet and cleans the dishes thoroughly. Right now though, there is a noise coming from the door when opening and closing. Sounds like a spring is caught or something. Maytag repair is coming next week. I'm sure they will fix it.

Good washer but noisy with odd quirks

Nice, but stopped cleaning well after 3 years

We got this Maytag MDB4949SDM from Costco, to replace the broken GE Profile that worked for 10 years non stop! Pro: 1- Looked and worked nice for three years. 2- Stainless tub and 10 year warranty. 3- Used to clean very well. 4- You don't have pickup and empty filers 5- chopper blade, is very quiet. Cons: 1- It stopped cleaning well, cups are constantly dirty kids switch to water bottles.. 2- Bottom collects food items, that you have to vacuum out, otherwise they stay put. for a filter-less dishwasher? 3-Bottom rack wheels keep falling off, never happened on the GE one 4- Very difficult to keep exterior clean, smudges and oxidizes very easy So now out of Manufacturer warranty, with the kids daily nagging inspecting every cup, and saying we need a new dishwasher? not sure what to do? 1- We use rinse agent all the time 2- We only use the small packet detergents, so not too much not too little. 3- Used Afresh as recommended.

Surprisingly effective dry cycle

I bought this dishwasher because it was a decent price and had pretty good reviews. I didn't expect it to change my life or anything, but I've been pleasantly surprised with it! Particularly with the dry cycle. I wash a lot of plastic items that usually don't get dry. But this dishwasher has done a solid job of drying them! The one thing I don't like is that the stainless door is already showing building up from my detergent pods. But... that's just aesthetic so I can let it go. The fingerprint resistant stainless stays looking pretty good, btw. (I have two young kids, so that's really saying something.)
