mdb8969sdh Dishwasher is a disappointment

We've had the mdb8969sdh for about 3 years. We run it once per day and I am happy with the wash cycle other than it takes a long time. Drying is OK with most items needing some additional drying before I put them away. 11 months after buying it the top rack just about fell off. Luckily that fix was covered in the warranty. Though the repair company told us that it would not have been covered if it happened one month later. Now the wash pump stopped working completely. The local company that sold it suggested that we buy a new dish washer as the repair will be too expensive. Really, are you kidding me? Since when did companies start making such poor Quality appliances? I am completely disappointed. You would think for $800+ that you could get a decent dishwasher that would last 10 years+.

This is the best appliance we own! Got this Maytag dishwasher to replace a 15 year old Kitchen Aid which was great but the Maytag has surpassed my expectations. It is so quiet and efficient that sometimes you wonder if it is even running. I have been in the construction industry for over 20 yrs and am a firm believer of Quality products. This is a Quality product.

Cleans well, but door doesn't always close properly.

Overall, the dishwasher cleans well and is very quiet. However, the upper rack spray tree doesn't always engage the rear water outlet properly and prevents the door from fully closing. We didn't initially realize this and the dishwasher would occasionally leak. It was only after noticing the upper rack not fully retracting, that we figured out that the rack was the problem. No one at Maytag seems to know what I'm talking about and the local service man basically threatened to charge us $80 for the visit if we didn't have a legitimate problem. I'm pretty sure this is the last Maytag appliance I'll ever buy, which is a shame since its the only brand I have bought for the last 20 years.

Another Great Maytag Appliance...

Bought this recently to replace a 12 year old dishwasher that we suspected was getting ready to "retire". We chose the top of the line model for two primary reasons. The first being that the sound insulation was important due to the location and the second was the sani-wash for when the flu season arrives. This unit doesn't fail to impress. Easy to use. Extremely quiet and when you set it for the "auto" function, it determines how much water, etc. to use for cost savings. The Powerblast cycle is basically a "pot scrubber" process, which helps when things get out of hand. Overall, an excellent buy for us and I would recommend this model very highly as either a replacement or new install.

Have had it for about 1 1/2 months. Enjoying how quiet it is. Only problem is that my Corel bowls don't sit upright as well as they did in the older model where the tines seem to be made for bowls and they don't come clean when they fall over. Did the older model have the tines a bit further apart?

I would have too say that the most impressive thing about our new Maytag dishwasher is it is so quiet that guests don't believe me when I say it is running. I live in a Condo and the kitchen is directly connected to the eating area and the living room (as is typical in many smaller condos) and believe me, you hear everything going on in the kitchen because you are never more than 15 feet from it. But, one thing I do not hear is my new dishwasher. The stainless steel interior is beautiful as is the exterior steel finish.

This dishwasher is so quiet my husband thought he hadn't turned it on. You have to put your ear to it to tell it's running. The capacity is excellent and it's cleaning power is great.
